The Governor of Akwa ibom state, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has expressed dissatisfaction over the current economic and security challenges bedevilling Nigeria.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Com. Ini Ememobong and issued to journalists in Uyo, at the end of State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, April 26 at the Government House, Uyo, the State capital.
The governor urged Nigerians to support the federal government and the country through prayers and cooperation.
He called for a strategic stakeholders’ meeting with all regulators and players critical to the execution of the Power for All programme to be convened to assess the preparedness for the launch of the Power for All project in the State.
He also directed that the draft bill for the inspection of agricultural produce for the purpose of enforcement of grades and standards, be sent to the House of Assembly.
On road construction in the State, the governor approved the revised Bills of Engineering Measurement and Evaluation(BEME) or Etebe-Enwang Road.
He further approved additional works for Abak Ifia-Ikpe Mbak Eyop-Ikot Abia Ossom-Nko Roads in Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara Local Government Areas; re-awarding of the dualization of Ring Road 2(Abak Road to Udoudoma) to Hensek Integrated Services stressing that the contract should be completed within a year.
The statement said, “HE, the Governor in his opening remarks bemoaned the current economic and security situation in the country. He sued for cooperation, support and prayers for the Federal Government and the country.
“He charged the Commissioner for Health to ensure that the Primary Healthcare Centers were functioning optimally to help provide health care services to rural populace.”
